Description
The Project Controller will maximise the company’s sales and profitability through managing the execution commercial contracts. This position is responsible for the identification and development of business opportunities and the profitable growth/management of projects, from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management
Manage multiple projects commercially from award to final account stage, ensuring expected project margins are met.
Review and interpret contracts to ensure compliance and maximise potential benefits.
Process contracts in SAP, including order creation, billing plans, and revenue recognition.
Review commercial documents, prepare applications and invoices, and submit Change Order Requests (CORs) in accordance with contractual agreements.
Monitor and review weekly site reports, updating final forecasts to ensure accurate billing and timely identification of change orders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to enhance opportunities for repeat business and additional scopes.
Commercial Forecasting
Prepare weekly and monthly project profitability and cash flow forecasts in line with business requirements.
Populate revenue, accruals, and reserves in project cost accounts, ensuring compliance with the revenue recognition policy and project accounting standards.
Provide a summary of contract positions at month-end, explaining any revenue variances.
Conduct detailed monthly project reviews to analyse profitability against bid and forecast expectations.
Identify opportunities and risks, providing feedback to project delivery and proposals teams for proactive action.
Present project profitability insights to the Senior Management Team monthly.
Debt Collection and Cashflow Forecasting
Coordinate with the credit controller to update debt receipt timings, latest project billings, and retentions on a weekly basis.
Assist in preparing a 13-week cash flow forecast for trade receivables, retentions, and unbilled amounts.
Provide ad hoc project analysis as needed.
Support financial evidence collection for internal and external audits.
Experience Required:
Degree in Business, Accounting & Finance or equivalent preferred
Background in contracts/project accounting is essential
Experience in commercial project management
Previous experience of managing project P&Ls
Project accounting experience
Cashflow & Project Profitability forecasting experience
Administration background
SAP experience is mandatory.
