Our client are a global leader in the design and manufacture of subsea technologies. They are looking for a Production Manager to join their talented team based in Sharjah

Production Manager

Job Purpose:

  • To ensure the smooth running of the production plant for maximum plant performance that timeously, cost effectively and safely meets customer and quality requirements, be responsible for the management, supervision and control of the full production and manufacturing process.
  • Drive and implement interdepartmental cost savings initiatives that remove non-value adding steps from the process without impacting the quality of the finished product

Occupational level / Limits of Authority/ Degree of Discretion:

On this level the incumbent has knowledge of the entire business area/BU/company or group. They provide inputs for/formulation of the overall Organisational strategy and translates the overall strategy into business plans for BU/Functional Unit, thereby operationalising organisational strategy. These roles implement and manages business plan, goals and objectives and ensures the achievement of overall key Organisational/BU/Functional outputs as well as the development of innovation and change. These roles are responsible for decisions related to the execution of strategies set at Top Management level. These roles are focused on strategic decisions related to resource optimization in line with the strategy set by Top level

Planning, Systems, and Management

  • Planning and organising work task schedules based on dept. priorities Assessing project and resource requirements based on priority targets.
  • Overseeing production processes
  • Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Responsible for the planning, scheduling and coordinating the workload, including the following activities:
  1. Planning – Ensuring resources and material will be available when needed
  2. Scheduling – Assigning work schedules, establishing progress and communicating any deviations
  3. Coordinating – Distributing workload, establishing priorities and being responsible for day-to-day activities of the assigned work
  • Developing the four-part support system, internal, external, supplier, hand off.
  • Responsible to ensure quality of the work meet or exceeds all standards of the organization. Maintains a general awareness amongst staff of the quality standards and promotes the importance of quality.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for subcontractors. Ensures raw material usages agree with product BOM’s

Continuous Improvement

  • Regularly reviews performance data and identifies gaps relevant to the team.
  • Maintain Skills competency matrix.
  • Ensures the team is operating within all legal, compliance and applicable contractual obligations Continuously evaluates production performance and focuses on continuous improvement in areas of opportunity/non-compliance
  • Assures good housekeeping practices (5S) through auditing. Implement Lean by utilizing principles of 5s and Kaizen.
  • Analyse deficiencies and contribute to the quality management system.

Departmental Performance

  • Responsible for the overall supervision, accountability and direction of all directly and indirectly reporting employees and contractors. This includes the following activities
  1. Selection & Hiring
  2. Orientation & Training
  3. Supervision & Attendance Management
  4. Provides ongoing leadership to the production and methods departments
  5. Performance Reviews & Salary Reviews
  6. Labour Relations – Builds, motivates and retains a team that consistently meets production deadlines
  • Manages direct labour cost/variances through scheduling based on production volumes
  • Develop, communicate and review functional strategy and operational plans with team.
  • Ensure departmental KPI’s targets are defined and delivered in alignment with company KPI’s.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff and manage necessary interventions for improvement.

Individual Performance:

  • Assess departmental resource and succession planning requirements. Coaching and mentoring to promote talent development.

Budget:

  • Preparation of annual departmental budgets
  • Manage budget, resource and material allocation by ensuring operating costs of the department are minimized through a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Estimating, negotiating, and agreeing budgets and timescales with managers

QHSSE Activities

  • Ensuring that health and safety regulations are met.
  • Risk register managed and strong mentality for all projects, endeavours and services risks
  • Organising relevant training sessions
  • Managers enforce company policy to cultivate an environment that makes employees hold one another accountable for their actions. The Production Manager has the responsibility to ensure that his/her area of responsibility is free of safety violations, that all employees receive proper training and that all human rights are upheld.The employee shall adhere to all company Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies, procedures and work standards.
  • The employee has the AUTHORITY to STOP WORK should an unsafe act or condition be observed to ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and to achieve a ZERO HARM working environment.
  • There is an obligation on the employee to report such observations and interventions to the HSE Manager or Management

Knowledge and Skills

  • Relevant degree or Diploma. A formal Project Management qualification will be advantageous.
  • Possessing at least 7 years of production management or operations experience working in a similarly structured factory environment with significant experience of production management activities gained in a factory setting of similar size, scale and complexity is essential.
  • At least 5 years’ Managerial experience in manufacturing- related activities, specifically, scheduling and planning, budget- and, production cost control, project management and Safety Management .
  • Ideally previous experience with 5S and/or lean manufacturing, process flow and continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
  • A natural leader, capable of commanding the respect of the team and creating a positive, open, team-orientated culture.
  • Decisive and confident decision maker, pro-active delegator, possessing excellent communication skills and a planning mindset.
  • Strong HSEQ skills and an uncompromising approach to creating a safe factory environment.
  • Advanced level / MS Office suit and exposure to ERP systems
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written (business language).
  • “Big picture” thinking, which is key to addressing top-level concerns and finding the best path forward from all of the available data
  • Interpersonal skills – an Prodocution Manager must communicate with both executives and staff employees in order to create and administer policy
