The Role

Our exciting and collaborative client is looking for a highly motivated individual with good lab-based skills to join our Late Chemistry Development team.

The Late Chemistry Development team plays a central role in developing biomolecule components central to their sequencing technology. These are taken from early development through to the product stage. The candidate will use a range of analytical and purification techniques, in combination with their knowledge of chemical biology, to lead the development, purification and characterisation of sequencing adapters, protein nanopores and many other biological components. The candidate, therefore, will play a central role in delivering technology and chemistry improvements to customers’ hands in the fastest and best possible way.

Tasks include:

  • Bioconjugation and chemical biology as applied to proteins, peptides or oligonucleotides.
  • Technology transfer to manufacturing and external suppliers.
  • Biological assay development.
  • Training and managing more junior scientists.

Experience & Skills Required

  • PhD or equivalent industry experience in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related subject.
  • Hands-on experience in biomolecule chromatography or bioanalytical methods.
  • Desire to train and manage more junior members of the team.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
