Business Development Manager


Our client, a global leader in their field of Integrity, Inspection, Repair and Maintenance is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their Unmanned Aircraft and remote sensing operations team.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for establishing business opportunities for the company’s Inspection & Integrity Management (I&IM) division, with a primary focus on the team’s UAS Inspection and Survey Solutions of critical infrastructure for the Energy and Utility industries. This role will involve obtaining new clients and fostering business relationships to increase revenue from sales. As part of this role there may be an element of account management involved.

This role will report to the Head of Business Development & Technical Sales – I&IM. 

The main tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • To deliver the Inspection & Integrity Management Business Development strategy and secure revenues, in line with the annual business plan and targets within the business.
  • Identify new leads, potential new international markets, partners and industries in order to generate business for the I&IM division.
  • Assist in the development of a new market strategy to help determine the best approach to new markets where required, including market research and mapping as well as competitive landscape.
  • Manage key strategic accounts and partners that are already established.
  • To develop and retain positive relationships with all new and existing customers and key partners.
  • To work closely with the Sales Team to agree on business development targets to successfully grow the pipeline of opportunities to achieve financial performance for the Unmanned Aircraft and remote sensing operations team.
  • Maintain and identify new opportunities to achieve financial performance of the I&IM division.
  • Work towards the achievement of agreed KPIs that are linked to the creation of a strong pipeline of opportunities and supports the Company’s global growth and market diversification, along with enhancing individual’s professional and personal development in their role.
  • Develop strategy, tactics, sales pursuit plans and targets for the I&IM division.
  • Work closely with the wider company Sales Team to help promote all of the company’s product line and services.
  • Report on business opportunities for target clients and markets.
  • Develop a comprehensive pipeline of opportunities with a six month look ahead and ensure this is kept up to date on a weekly basis using the company’s Pipedrive CRM system.
  • To support the wider business strategy.
  • To positively and professionally represent the company at conferences, trade shows and networking events with an aim to continually gather intelligence and feedback to the business using the appropriate tools.

Key Skills, Attributes and Experience:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of Inspection and/or survey requirements
  • Sales and negotiation skills
  • Previous sales or client facing operational experience
  • Experience or knowledge of UAS/ Robotics in an inspection or survey environment is desirable but not essential
