Accounts Receivable Assistant

Main Purpose of Role:

Are you ready to take on a dynamic role in our Finance team? As an Accounts Assistant Receivable, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely collection of debts within the UKEC region. You’ll be responsible for maintaining strong communication channels both internally and externally, resolving invoice queries, and adhering to the credit policy of our Group.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Chase overdue invoices via telephone, email, and letter within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain accurate records of all customer communications and interactions.
  • Liaise with both customers and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice queries promptly.
  • Issue monthly customer statements and reminder letters following the agreed escalation process.
  • Assist in the processing of bank transactions, including cash allocation and bank reconciliations.
  • Generate and issue sales invoices accurately and timely.
  • Review customer credit limits periodically and recommend revisions as necessary.
  • Hold regular meetings with the Credit Controller Team Lead and Business Line Managing Directors to ensure effective debtor management.
  • Identify changes in payment patterns and propose appropriate actions.
  • Prepare weekly update reports for designated business lines within the UKEC Region.
  • Liaise with Management Accountants regarding cash receipts forecast.
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Meet cash and debtor collection targets for the Group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Credit Controller Team Lead.

Person Specification:

Knowledge:

  • Accounting/credit control knowledge.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in accounting and accounts systems (experience with Sage and InspHire preferable).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Administration skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel.

Qualifications and Certification:

  • Finance or accounting qualification preferable.

Experience:

  • Previous credit control/collections experience, preferably in a similar industry.

Personal Qualities:

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Patient, calm, and diplomatic when dealing with customers.
  • Persistent and determined.
